This is the real reason Illuvium is the GREATEST
Illuvium Beyond is around the corner and the game looks amazing but these are nothing compared to the true power of Illuvium, read on to learn more.
Somehow we are already in March and even though I still can’t believe it Crypto and Web 3 is still super intriguing and exciting. I always appreciate just how much is going on inside the Illuvium-sphere and because of that there is never a dull moment. Illuvium Zero was just released and is an awesome game you can play on the go. Not long after, Illuvium Beyond is about to launch. There is so much happening to keep the existing community engaged for many months on end.
Here is what I will be covering in this newsletter:

Could Illuvium Beyond bring more users?
Illuvium Beyond is an incredible creation with an exciting and promising future but does it really have the potential to increase the player base of Illuvium?
Firstly, let's acknowledge that Illuvium Beyond is a game that targets a different demographic than the typical gamer. It caters to the hardcore degen, a group that tends to be older and more financially well-off, and has a strong interest in finance and technology. Although there is some overlap with the typical gamer demographic, the focus is usually different.
That being said, there is a clear connection between gaming and technology, and Illuvium Beyond leverages this connection to attract its target audience. One example is the upcoming integration of Binance Connect with the Illuvidex. This integration will make it easier for users to access the Illuvium ecosystem, providing an exciting opportunity for both gamers and the finance and tech-focused audience that Illuvium Beyond aims to attract.
As you can see above, Binance has built out a proper FIAT onramp for the Illuvidex in preparation for the Illuvium Beyond product launch. I don’t have the full details on what this looks like but it would be a first of its kind, especially in regards to a crypto project that’s so large. Not only does Illuvium Beyond facilitate the hardcore degens through things like alpha d1sks and pfp NFTs but now it has the opportunity to onboard the mass market.
I’m not saying this is going to cause mass adoption of the entire Illuvium ecosystem. But at least since this system now exists on top of the Illuvidex there is opportunity for more people to get involved. For example if we say 10% of people have adopted crypto, which is obviously a large exaggeration. Then the other 90% also has the opportunity to buy some Illuvitars because Illuvium and Binance have just made it extremely accessible regardless of your experience with crypto and web 3.
What it’s like creating content for Illuvium
I have been creating crypto content for almost 1.5 years now and I haven’t regretted a single thing. However, there is far more to it than making money or getting views.
The best thing about becoming a content creator has been joining a welcoming and growing community. Sure I could be involved with this community with or without buying a camera and recording myself but it was my way of giving back and strengthening those connections. Without a doubt I consider many of the friends I have made amongst the Illuvium community members, team members and content creators as some of my best friends. It doesn’t matter if I can’t see them in person on the weekend, creating content is my personal way of connecting to them and every single time I see a comment on a video it gives me so much purpose and belonging.
I still remember when Volkin sent me a message out of the blue saying he enjoyed my content and was able to talk whenever I needed help with anything. And my god from learning how to deal with criticism, making thumbnails and even getting monetized I asked him a question every other day and he never failed to come through. I had already seen early success in my YouTube career but being able to talk with him and geek out about YouTube were the happiest moments of my early YouTube days.
This was closely followed by getting to know Andrew, a legend in the space and I had many honest discussions with him where he helped me grow not only as a creator, but as a person. When I first spoke to these two they absolutely changed my life forever. I then made it my personal mission to always pass along as much as I possibly could to other creators and anyone else who wanted to get their feet wet.
Since then I have reached out to basically every Illuvium creator you can think of and I always strive to give my honest feedback if they ever have any questions for me. Most notably I established a connection with TSG early on because he has an awesome energy and feels the same about this ethos. Just being involved with everyone is helping me make better content, help the community more and gives me a sense of belonging I have never been able to find in my life. Even if I stop content tomorrow, being a part of this journey might have to be the best thing I have ever done and is the highlight of my life.
Illuvium is changing EVERYTHING
Have you seen Grant and Andrew’s Illuvium showcase streams? It should tell you everything you need to know.
Two really major events happened in March that easily prove why Illuvium is better than any other gaming studio on the face of the Earth. Not only this but the Illuvium showcase constantly reminds the community of that fact.
The first of these events is the MASSIVE Illuvitars proposal to decide on some aspects of pricing and some general structural elements of Illuvium Beyond. This had heated discussions take place for quite some time before the dust settled but it showcased the strength and voice of the community. They pushed back hard against the initial proposal and the DAO responded by honoring their commitment to serve the community the best they could. Of course not everyone was happy with the outcome but a majority was and it enabled the DAO to vote on the proposal and move forward with the Illuvium Beyond product launch. The other event was the cancellation of the D1sk battle between Kieran Warwick and Su Zhu. It took less than 12 hours for the community to voice their concern and even less time for the council to discuss their options, prepare a proposal, come to a consensus and vote.
I believe it is this structure that will put the rest of the gaming industry to shame. In traditional games they always fade into obscurity for reasons that the community often points out months before a game dies. This lack of accountability from game publishers causes them to self destruct and ruin the experience for millions of people over and over again. I will pick out the easiest example for me to understand, because I am one of those frustrated community members.
The Pokémon franchise. Now there is a lot to say about their shortcomings but I will say that they have failed to recognise their consumers for an extremely long time. A key example is the rise of Pokémon Go. Pokemon Go was a massive success because it attached to their fanbase quite well. Everyone, no matter their age had always wanted to hunt and capture Pokemon in the real world. However, The Pokemon Company was way out of touch. When it came time for them to make the next main series Pokemon game they just put Pokemon Go into console version to try and capitalize on the games success. They completely failed their community in the name of trying to make some extra profit and now they continue to do it in every single new generation.
They continuously ignore the pleas of the community whom requested a lower barrier to entry into competitive play. This is because their consumers are getting older which means they have less time, they cannot play the game the way they used to and younger generations don’t care about anything outside of mobile gaming anyways. It is true that the video game is a small part of The Pokemon Company’s overall business model but this simple ignorance will eventually sink the video game arm of their business. I know most will disagree with me but Pokemon isn’t the only one. Blizzard made their mistakes with Diablo, Cyberpunk rushed out a half baked game and DICE attempted a predatory loot-box mechanic in battlefront 2.
However Illuvium is significantly different. Not only can the community determine the next game to build but they can adjust and alter existing products. A key example of its recent success is the community voicing its opinions on the ‘boring’ Overworld. Almost instantaneously lead developers of the game began working on systems and features that would alleviate this and make the game more interesting. The fact that communicating with core team members is so easy will be the main reason Illuvium becomes successful.
